Killala Village

Killala is a charming and picturesque fishing village which played an important part in the Rebellion of 1798.

In August of that year General Humbert arrived at Kilcummin pier from all the way from France. He joined forces with the Irish insurgents against the Crown forces and so began what was to become known in Irish history as the ”Year of the French”. And while its involvement with the forces of France did not end well for Killala, the town has become extremely popular with historians and history enthusiasts in more recent years.

On this tour you will learn about Killala’s deep history, pass the quaint village and view their rugged coastline. This small village is packed with history and character and is a location which is often missed by many visitors to the west coast of Ireland and is undoubtedly worth a visit while enjoying a relaxing boating experience.
